Road to Wigan Pier

This is a level walk, a large portion of the walk along the canal is downhill.

We walk across fields to Aspull and then follow a route that takes us through Kirkless Wood to join the canal at Top lock, we then head to our lunch/refreshment stop at the Crown Hotel. Provided you buy a drink from the pub you are welcome to bring your own lunch and use the beer garden or buy your lunch at the pub.

After lunch we re-join the canal for a short section and then go through Bottling Wood before joining the old railway line back to the flight of locks on the canal. We continue to Wigan Pier and then to the centre of Wigan finishing at the train/bus stations .
