{"id":"6982080d4efbf475fe403c20","title":"Footpath Maintenance","path":"footpath-maintenance","contentMarkdown":"Bolton Ramblers has a small team of dedicated members who monitor Public Rights of Way (PROW) in the Bolton and surrounding area.\n\n## What We Do\n\n**Planning Review:** Our team reviews planning applications to ensure there is no infringement on PROW, commenting or objecting where necessary.\n\n**Path Inspection:** Reported footpath problems are inspected by our volunteers.\n\n**Maintenance Work:** We carry out maintenance work as and when required, usually once a month on a Tuesday morning, lasting 1-2 hours. We also handle ad-hoc urgent work when needed.\n\n## Working with Bolton Council\n\nWe have an excellent relationship with Bolton Council and liaise with them on all PROW matters. We work together on small maintenance jobs and major projects.\n\nOver recent years, we have secured external funding for projects at **Walker Fold** and **Wilson Fold** to improve and repair damaged footpaths, with each project costing between £5,000 and £10,000. Funds are still available for footpath improvements and we are open to investigating new projects.\n\n## Get Involved\n\nThe footpath maintenance team is organised by **Sue Gough** and **Jonathan Lilliott**.\n\nWe would love to add to our team of footpath inspectors and maintenance volunteers.
